This is Woody a two year old Cocker Spaniel over on the Ridgeway having great fun with the ball flinger.
From afar, I was intrigued by his outfit and found out later that it was a trouser suit by Cosipet. According to the owner, it’s the “Greatest invention ever. Saves all the bathing, knots and muddy floors.”
Wonder if I could get Barney into one of those?
After watching last night’s “The Secret Life of Dogs” on ITV1, I’ve been prompted to post this picture of Barney at Cooden Beach in mid-shake. There’s nothing new in this sort of picture, but it’s very hit and miss trying to photograph it. Apparently, there’s a sort of corkscrew motion going on, starting at the head and working it’s way down the body. Whatever it is, don’t be near it once it starts, or you’re gonna get wet!
Also check out Carli Davidson for some lovely studio pics of contorted dog faces during a shake.
This is Tilly, a greyhound/lurcher that I photographed just before the snow came. Love her stripey, coloured coat.
Hopefully, my new website should be up and running soon. The blog will still feature, so the dogs that I photograph out and about will be posted regularly. The idea is to upload all the pics I’ve shot so far in the past 18 months or so since the blog began and you’ll be able to view these by date and they’ll be tagged with the dog’s name. You’ll also be able to order prints and other framed products a lot more easily, straight from the new website without being transferred to another site.
So, bear with me. The site is nearly ready to go and I’m working my way through boring stuff like domain names and ‘pointing nameservers’. You have to be such a geek to get anywhere these days.
Here’s Newton the Golden Retriever bounding towards Barney this morning near the bomb crater. He’s a very handsome boy.
Here’s a camera phone pic of little Macy, a seven month old Jug (Jack Russell/Pug X) outside the Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre. We (as dog owners) were doing the swimming pool-child-pick-up-thing while the dogs were happily checking each other out. Like the dog print Joules wellies!
As Barney and I came back from our walk in the woods yesterday, we met Fern, Ruby and Tigga. They were excited to see Barney, but what these three eager beavers really wanted was to get to the woods.
They could smell it. They were nearly there. Why the hell are these two annoying people chatting when the woods are just around the corner?
Yesterday, I photographed a doggy TV star! Yes, this is THE Lucky the Chihuahua, as seen on ITV2s Top Dog Model program. Lucky made it all the way to the final three but was sadly runner-up to the overall winner Simba the Leonberger.
I first met Lucky at Discover Dogs last year; on that occasion I got a quick snap and blogged it (Discover Dogs blog post) along with lots of others. Lucky’s owner Isa, saw the post and liked The Dog Snapper Facebook page and has been liking the pictures I put up there ever since. In fact, the cover picture on Lucky’s Facebook page is the one I took at Discover Dogs. (I can also see that Lucky’s got double the amount of FB likes compared to me, but then again, he is a TV star).
Anyway, Isa got in touch as she needs some pics for a piece that Dogs Today magazine are going to run. They suggested supplying some of her own iPhone pics for the article, but wanting to see her dog looking his best, she thought she’d get in touch to get a dog photo session done. Great idea and he was fantastic to photograph in the Autumn light. So here he is, in lots of lovely warm light, autumnal colours and the odd silhouette thrown in for good measure. I’ll put the rest up on my Facebook page soon.
